Ode to a Passing Thought

I saw you passing by and

grasping I said please…. don’t go,

Your beauty, your sweet presence

is something I would know.

And smiling gently did you say,

I live but in your mind.

To hold me here will wither me

so I’ll be on my way.

That I might blossom more each day,

my fullness to impress,

in radiant colors, shapes and forms

upon your heart in ways I can’t express.

Reluctantly I eased the grip

I’d held so long incessant,

amazed to find that in my mind I saw a world consistent

with all the words I’d never heard

or ever once imagined,

and followed in their passing,

even more and more unending fashions,

that did so delight with their sight

Until no more

could I endure

the thought of holding on,

so setting free the love in me,

allowed the joy to flow….

forever more…..in effortless expansion.
