Night

He closed the gate and walked slowly,

under the burden of her pain.

Steadied by the calm

beneath the thin veneer

of doubt

that kept him from returning.

And so they cried

through the night,

each longing for the other's

healing embrace.

Too confused to open the gate

until the sun's first rays

rekindled the memories

of those sweet

dawning days

when love flowed,

so freely,

through their Single Heart.

Inspiration / Author Note

How many times have we closed off love because of that thin veneer of doubt that brings the fear of loss which in turn brings us to realizing the loss that need not have been. We tend to clutter our lives with too much analysis in an attempt to avoid the pain of living. And in that clutter, we sometimes lose ourselves.
