Drifting through Time

Unwritten poems,

Halfhearted rhymes.

Incomplete promises

drifting through time.

“So much to say”

through silence,

and time

that unfolds, so slowly,

in unwritten rhymes.

Hearts opened, in hope,

Slammed shut by fear

the aching,

the longing

to hold one so dear,

Near.

So close that they feel

the hope through our fear.

Through gentle embrace,

and, perhaps, unshed tears,

we wait.

For the words ,

so long ago felt.

Each morning,

with hidden hope,

that those fears will be shattered by tears

that pour through the love held captive these years,

sequestered by time,

but never lost,

He looks through wishes,

unadmitted,

and sees her words appearing

not.

Halfhearted wishes,

Unfulfilled dreams,

Perhaps life is

Never

as much

as it seems.

Inspiration / Author Note

The tension of what we think of as love. So desperate.
