Continuity

Awakening

My mind expands

Into this present moment.

From slumber deep

Memories creep,

Of a day before time was made

To entrap

a fleeting moment.

When the light that shined

Within all minds eclipsed

For just that moment.

A flicker in the cosmic flame,

That caught the eyes of

Passersby who lingered for but a moment,

To watch the dance of life and death.

Imagined the impossibility of life’s ending moment,

Then continued

Shaking heads

And laughing at the thought,

Of worlds arising,

Living,

Dying,

As life begins anew,

Eventually

returning here

Where all is

ever new.

Inspiration / Author Note

Well, this one might need some commentary. A Course in Miracles considers this world an illusion that sprang from a passing thought that we could be separated from the infinite. The idea of separation gives rise to the possibility of life and death as we imagine the possibility that we are not eternal. And so, this world is but a passing thought, a "joke at which we forgot to laugh".
